Debbie began working in diabetes nursing in 1990 where she developed the Diabetes Specialist Nursing Service in Hull. In 2005, she moved south to take up the post of Nurse Consultant – Diabetes in Enfield, North London. Debbie spent four years working in primary care from 2019 – 2023 as Nurse Consultant – Diabetes. After working clinically in the NHS for 45 years Debbie is now retired but remains very active within Trend Diabetes which she founded in 2009. Debbie has published over 150 papers both in the UK and internationally, her most recent publication being in 2026. She is Chair of Trend Diabetes and is on the Editorial Board of The Diabetes Times. Debbie remains passionate about providing high quality care and education for people who live with diabetes as well as those who care for them.
