The results of a Trend Diabetes audit into diabetes specialist nursing in England have been published by Practical Diabetes.
The DSN Audit was launched in 2019 because the exact number of diabetes specialist nurses (DSNs) was unclear. The findings of the survey were presented at last year’s Diabetes Professional Care conference.
Now these results have been published in the October edition of the journal in an article entitled ‘A diabetes specialist nurse audit within NHS England’.
The results found there were 117 different titles for the DSN role. In addition, the survey identified there were 1,872 DSNs working in NHS England, whereas the number published in a previous workforce poll back in 2010 suggested there was only 828.
